Natalia Loza is an Honored Artist of Ukraine, whose work brightly continues the traditions of the Odesa School of Painting. Born into the family of Adolf Loza, a People's Artist of Ukraine, she was surrounded by the world of art from childhood, which shaped her professional path and distinctive style.
Education and the start of her artistic journey
Natalia Loza was born on December 5, 1964, in Kharkiv. Her artistic education began at the Odesa Theater and Art College, where she graduated in 1984. In 1992, Natalia Adolfovna completed her higher education at the Art and Graphics Faculty of the South Ukrainian Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky, specializing in "painting." Her instructors included Zinaida Borysiuk and Alexander Pismichenko.
Natalia Loza began her professional career in 1984 as a stage designer at the Chernivtsi Puppet Theater. Since 1985, she has lived and worked in Odesa. In 1995, she became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, actively participating in exhibitions both in Ukraine and abroad.
Artistic style and themes
Natalia Loza is an acclaimed master of easel painting, working in a realistic manner. Her art is characterized by lyricism, an excellent sense of color, and bold compositional solutions. She is particularly known for her cityscapes and seascapes, which evoke the "breath of the sea" and "sunlight." Odesa's courtyards, cozy streets, architectural masterpieces, and the vast expanses of the sea are constant sources of inspiration for the artist.
Her works include not only landscapes but also still lifes, genre paintings, and portraits. One of her most poignant and unique series features watercolor still lifes, originally titled "Trash and Junk," created from old childhood toys found in an attic. This series, later named "How Are You Doing, Dear Things?", is filled with nostalgia and profound meaning.
Natalia Loza actively participates in numerous plein airs and symposiums in Ukraine and beyond, including Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, and Georgia. Her paintings are held in museums in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Sevastopol, and many private collections worldwide.
Teaching and views on art
In addition to her prolific artistic endeavors, Natalia Adolfovna teaches drawing and painting at the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky, sharing her experience and knowledge with a new generation of artists. She firmly believes that artists should primarily focus on their creative work rather than commercial concerns, and she emphasizes the importance of a nurturing artistic environment for a master's development. Natalia Loza considers Odesa an ideal place for creativity due to its diversity and openness.
Her exhibitions, frequently updated with new works (approximately every six months), consistently become significant events in Odesa's cultural life, demonstrating the artist's unwavering productivity and continuous search for new possibilities.
