Shipping art objects abroad

Valuable and fragile objects require special approach in storage, packing and moving. Artists House Gallery has been in business for over 13 years and has extensive experience in the art sector. The following points should be considered when shipping, transporting, shipping artwork:

1) The box and packaging should allow Customs to inspect the item and the packaging itself.

This is so that customs officers can check the export documents you have provided (export authorization, customs declaration, valuation - e.g. certificate of authenticity, etc.). Also, they should check for prohibited items and materials - both in the item itself and in the packaging. For example, it is illegal to make boxes out of plywood for mailing without authorization.

2) The packaging must ensure the integrity and security of the item throughout the journey.

During delivery, the parcel passes miles of sorting center ribbons, is reloaded into several types of transport - so the packaging should provide peace of mind for the entire delivery period. Our gallery provides quality packaging services for art objects in a short period of time.

3) Along with the shipment (parcel) there should be documents that confirm the estimated value of the object.

This may be a check, receipt, invoice, sales contract, examination, certificate. These documents are required by customs services to comply with customs discipline. If you transport or deliver a valuable object of art - it is subject to mandatory declaration. If you import the object temporarily - the customs regime does not apply to this type of import. In the absence of such a document - contact our gallery and we will advise on the issues of registration, obtaining such documents.
